Bravo Enchanted Entertainers

Our Enchanted Entertainers performed at the Riverton branch library on Wednesday October 26, 2011 and Thursday October 27, 2011. We had 768 children and parents attend two days of shows, and a wonderful time was had by all. It was so wonderful that an encore performance will be Saturday October 29, 2011 at 10:30 AM. So if you missed the other shows you still have time to catch this funny and kind of scary play. See you there if you dare!

Summer Reading Success

Our Summer Reading Program has ended for the 2011 year. It was a great success. We changed the program this year and instead of giving little prizes for reading progress the children earned an opportunity to attend a special evening after hours at the library. Ukraine vacation, summer in Switzerland, and all the way USA.

A little, "Magyk" at the Riverton Library

Jennifer from the Lander Children's museum and her companions entertained us at Summer Reading program #4. She showed us a little science, "Magyk" (One of Jennifer's favorite books written by Angie Sage). We were able to sample Fizzroot, make crazy bubbles, and assemble talisman necklaces. We had a total of 110 people in attendance. It was a very interesting and exciting program thanks to Jennifer.

Swiss Night

Our first fun night program was a hit. 35 people came across the boarder into Swiss night with their passports. Fanny entertained them with a power point about her country which included music. Then all the children put together a craft, and when that was finished there was wonderful food to sample. Fanny made homemade Swiss braided bread, there was cheese, a fizzy apple juice drink, and finally chocolate. A fun time was had by all.

The Riverton Branch Library Enchanted Entertainers performed for over a thousand children May 17th and 18th.

Grades kindergarten to five joined each other for the daily performances. The show was extraordinary and the students were a great audience.

We look forward with anticipation for the next exciting presentation by these amazing ladies!

Wyoming Reads 2011

357 first grade students, from local Fremont County Schools, converged at the Riverton Branch Library for the annual Wyoming Reads program.
Dawna Engle portrayed the naughty troll as she captivated the audience with her story about, "Good Queen Sue".

The children also saw an original play performed by our own Enchanted Entertainers. At the conclusion of the morning each child received their own special book.

Thank you to all the Riverton Library staff for your help, and thank you Tetiana, Katy, Fanny, and Sandi for putting together a great program.

The Riverton Branch Library children's department is getting reading for their summer reading program. It begins on Monday June 6, 2011 with the last day being Thursday July 14, 2011. Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to join us for six weeks of fun. Calendars with the events can be picked up in the children's department beginning May 23, 2011. Registration packets will be available on Monday June 6th.

Easter and last story time

For our Easter story time this year we decided to have an egg hunt in the adult section of the library. It was great fun.

Our last story time was wonderful. We made Kleenex box puppets. Then we all sat down and had a picnic. Hot dogs, chips, pickles, cookies, and lemonade made up our menu. Our XBOX360 with Kinect is now up and running. The kids are having a lot of fun trying to beat the Adventure game. If you are 10, 11, or 12 and in grades 4th, 5th, or 6th the Tween center is available to you from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday. We also have Lego club on Tuesdays, Craft club once a month, and Origami club every other Wednesday. We have a Wii, ping pong, and assorted board games. So if your looking for something to do after school join us at the Library for some indoor fun.

The Cat in the Hat visited us with his friend Penny from PBS. Penny read Green Eggs and Ham and told the families a little about PBS. We had about 80 moms, dads, and kids attending.

Craft Club

Our craft club is not just for girl's any more.

It is now a coed club, and our craft was a European shoulder bag made from recycled jeans.

The tweens really used their imaginations and came up with some wonderful ideas.

We will meet again on March 19, 2011 at 3:15 PM. The group will be making Borax crystals. It's a little bit of craft mixed with a tiny bit of science. It should be an exciting afternoon.

Fancy Nancy Tea Party

Saturday February 19, 2011 mothers and daughters arrived at the Riverton Branch Library Children's department for the Fancy Nancy Tea. The children's staff prepared a wonderful menu and set a beautiful table.

We made hats together, listened to classical music, spoke French (because it's fancy), and learned etiquette for the table. It was a great afternoon. We hope to try this again in the fall and make it a twice a year event.

The Enchanted Entertainers show their versatility

Our Christmas story time was exceptional this year. We had a total of 160 moms, dads, and children in two days. They made footprint reindeer, frosted Christmas trees, and put together a beautiful ornament. The highlight of the morning was a performance by our own Enchanted Entertainers. Amanda Murrell narrated, "Rafunzel", an adaptation of the story, "Rapunzel". Kathryn Wood, Kelly Anderson, and Natalie Fowler portrayed the characters from the story. It was a wonderful treat and a great way to end our 2010 story time year. See you in 2011.

Gloria Brodle the manager of the Riverton Branch Library received her 25 year pin from the library board on Wednesday December 1, 2010. Katy Jost, the children's manager, was on hand to give a speech.

Enchanted Entertainment!

The Enchanted Entertainers spent three days amusing 1,430 adults and children as they performed their plays at the Riverton Branch Library. They also had a small group of players go to the schools who were unable to attend at the Library.

Two of the three plays were adaptations to the books, "Piggie Pie by Margie Palatini", and "Rabbit and Skunk by Carla Stevens". Christal DeVries and Melinda McLaughlin also wrote an original play, "Spiney the Spineless Skeleton".

The Entertainers had some new faces join their original group and they were a wonderful addition to an already perfect cast.

We look forward to their next performances which will be in spring 2011.

In the heart of Wyoming sprawls the ancient homeland of the Eastern Shoshone Indians, who were forced by the U.S. government to share a reservation in the Wind River basin and flanking mountain ranges with their historical enemy, the Northern Arapahoes. Both tribes lost their sovereign, nomadic lifestyles and economic dependence on decimated buffalo. Tribal members subsisted on increasingly depleted numbers of other big game- deer, elk, moose, pronghorn, and bighorn sheep. In 1978, the tribal councils petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to help them recover their wildlife heritage. Bruce Smith became the first wildlife biologist to work on the reservation. Wildlife on the Wind recounts how he helped the Native Americans change the course of conservation for some of America's most charismatic wildlife.

Humanities Council Book Group Hosts Brown Bag Movie Night

Riverton Branch Library and the Wyoming Humanities Council Book Discussion Group are hosting a Brown Bag Movie Night. We will be having a screening of the movie All the King's Men on Monday, September 20 at 4:30 pm in the library Community Room. Bring a brown bag dinner and the library will provide refreshments and cookies. All the King's Men is the 2006 release based on the book by Robert Penn Warren. This film is rated PG-13 for an intense sequence of violence, sexual content and partial nudity. Everyone is welcome; parents use your discretion. Tween Center

Last year we added a tween center to the children's department.

We have ping pong available and a Wii for kids with library cards. There are also board games and fun puzzles to be solved.

The tween center is for ages 10-12. Our tween center is open from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday.

Tweener's Lego Club

Our Lego builders are back full of ideas for a new season. The club is for tweens ages 4 - 6. We meet from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Tuesdays in our children's theater. Each week we use a different theme chosen by the children.

The kids build for two hours then a picture of their creation is taken and put on the Legolympics board. The staff judge their work at the end of the month and we have a first and second place prize.

Last year we started the club and we averaged 14 tweens per week. We hope for the same or more this year.

A Busy Week

The lovely library ladies are back in business with story time.

Wednesday September 8th we had 73 attending; Thursday September 9th was a little slower with 30.

Our first program was about manners. We read the mom manners again this year for our new families. Last year we composed these to help us with parents who tend to visit during our presentations. We also talked about please and thank you, what to do when you sneeze, and never never pick your nose.

Libraries, reservation and CWC present 'One County One Book'

Central Wyoming College, the Wind River Reservation and Fremont County libraries kick off "One County One Book" September 7 to get everyone in the county reading the same book.

Every library in Fremont County has copies of "Lifting the Sky," a young adult novel by Crowheart artist and author Mackie d' Arge. Librarians at CWC, Dubois, Riverton and Lander branch libraries officially start the event by checking out the books from 4- 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

The literacy event not only celebrates reading and community, but also fosters dialogue, said CWC Librarian Coraline Daly.

Readers are asked to attend one of 10 book discussions scheduled throughtout the county during September and October. Middle and high school students will also be reading and discussing the book at their respective schools.

One County One Book concludes with a final celebration with the author scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 at the Lander Valley High School Auditorium.

"Lifting the Sky" is the first novel by D'Arge, who lives on the Wind River Reservation near Crowheart. The book is about Blue, a young girl who finds a home when she and her mother move to a tumbledown ranch near Crowheart.

CWC is also planning a hike to see Dinwoody Petroglyphs, which figure prominently in the book.

Summer Reading Program 2010

Our Summer Reading Program 2010, Make a Splash at your Library, was a great success. The Riverton children's department had 300 children register this year.

We had a movie for our first fun day with fresh popcorn for all.

Andy Mason came for our second program, and he had the kids and parents dancing and singing to his original music.

For program three our own Tetiana Hutchison spoke to the kids about water safety. She was followed by Jennifer Conner, from the Lander Children's Museum, Jennifer displayed water magic that mystified young and old alike.

Our Enchanted Entertainers put on an original skit and were wonderful as always. The children's staff surprised everyone with an unexpected trip on stage during the show. This was our fourth program.

Our fifth program was a crazy craft day. There were four rotations for the kids to explore and make crafts that had to do with water. Then for the grand finale we sent them off smiling with delicious root beer floats. Thank you for all who participated this summer. See you in February for our Winter Reading Program.

BRAVO Enchanted Entertainers

1, 287 in two days is the number of people our Entertainers enchanted this October. With most of the District 25 schools in attendance, including Riverton High School special needs and Riverton Middle School drama, these ladies presented two marvelous performances.

One of the plays was written by three of the ladies and the second was adapted from a favorite book. Without a doubt the Riverton Branch Library is truly blessed to have these performers who take time from their families to come and share their talents.

Thank you Entertainers for another outstanding performance.

Halloween Fun

Halloween was excellent this year. We had two days of trick or treat through the library with record crowds of 80 and 90 people each day.

Lego Club

What a success.

Every Tuesday from 3:30 - 5:00 PM young men and women grades 4-6 converge on the tween center of the Riverton Branch Library for an afternoon of building with Lego. Our club started in September 2009 and we average 14 kids each week. Once a month one creation is chosen, by the Riverton Branch Library staff, as a winner. The lucky person or persons receives a gift certificate towards a Papa Murphy's Pizza. The Legos were generously donated by The Friends of the Library.

On Tuesday September 8, 2009, the Riverton Branch Library Children's Department will have their first meeting of the new Lego Club. It will be from 3:30-5:00 PM every Tuesday and is for kids in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, (Tweeners), ages 10, 11, and 12.

The Friends of the Library are purchasing our first sets of Lego and we hope to receive donations as the clubs membership increases. If you have any questions you can contact the children's library staff.

Summer Reading Program 2009 Finale

Congratulations ladies; another successful Summer Reading Program for the Riverton Branch Library Children's Department. Today we had a wonderful time with families, painting faces, eating delicious hot dogs, listening to splendid band music, and topping it off with frosty root beer floats.

There were about 89 people in attendance; what a day! We are sad to see it end but look forward to Summer Reading Program 2010.

Summer Reading Fun

Our summer reading program has been great this year with 450 kids signed up and reading.

Our first weekly activity was a magician, Cody Landstrom, he gave a fantastic show for a group of about 137.

Week two Our Enchanted Entertainers put on an encore performance of, "Company's Coming", and as always did a fabulous job.

Then we had Veronica Schultz, a former Riverton music teacher, who gave a wonderful presentation about music. Kookaburra was an instant hit.

The fourth week it was the children's librarians' turn to wow the crowd. We put on a puppet show, "Rumpled Turkey", for a group of 100 excited fans. They loved the show.
Maybe we should take it on the road.

This week our own Teri Caldwell, actress and librarian extraordinaire, gave the children advice on becoming an actor.
After some quick instruction the children made masks and Teri had them break into four groups. They were either a pig, cow, sheep, or duck. Then with Teri's help and the book Dooby, Dooby, Moo; by Doreen Cronin, the story came to life with the kids playing the animal parts.

Our final program will be Wednesday July 15, 2009.
We are planning a morning of music, food, face painting, and as always lots of fun.
The last day to redeem coupons will be Saturday July 18, 2009.

The grand prize drawing will be held on Monday July 20, 2009.

Come in and get out of the heat, (in our case the rain).
Spend a little time playing ping pong or our new Wii.
We also have assorted board games.
Or you could just pick up a book and sit down on a bean bag for a little quiet time.

That's the theme of the 2009 Summer Reading Program. Registration begins Monday June 8, 2009 and goes until June 20, 2009. You can pick up your reading packets anytime these two weeks. Our first program is on Saturday June 13th at 1:00 PM. We will have a magic show by the great and mysterious , "Cody Landstrom". CLIFFORD ARRIVES!

We had a very special guest for story time this morning.

Clifford, he stopped by to say hello and join us for some silly

songs. The kids were so excited, they donned their homemade Clifford hats and collars, then they all gathered around for a photo opportunity with the big red dog.

Needless to say, the staff enjoyed wearing the Clifford attire as much as the children.

The Wyoming Honor Farm came to the library on Monday January12th and like a whirlwind removed shelving, books, and old carpet. It was amazing how fast they work. We, the library staff, sure appreciate their help. Now the Community Room is a sea of books as is the Children's Department. All of us at the library are very excited and anticipate a speedy installation. I will try to keep you updated on our progress.

Ernie and the Four Persnickety Pumpkins

The Riverton Branch Library Children's Department presented The Enchanted Entertainers in, "Ernie and the Four Persnickety Pumpkins written by Christal DeVries and The Most Unusual Ghost".

In two days a total of 1,154 people came to the library to be exposed to culture as the Enchanted Entertainers took the stage and presented their plays.

Join Christal, Heather, Dawna, Kelli, Andrea, Mara, Cassie, Necia, Amanda, Alexia, Natalie, Racheal, and the other cast members in December when the ladies take the stage again to perform another original play written by Christal DeVries.

Our Summer Reading Program started off with a bang. We have 359 children signed up to read and our first program had 150 in attendance. The weekly programs have been averaging 130 kids and parents.

For our fifth program we have Jessica Shenk better know as, "The Bug Lady". She will be talking about her business of selling bug candy. We will also be making our own edible bugs it will be a great time.

Our final program will be Wednesday July 23, 2008 so join us for an outdoor picnic. All coupons need to be in by Saturday July 26, 2008.

Yes Wyoming Reads is just around the corner. On Tuesday May 20th 540 1st grade students from all over Fremont County will converge on the Riverton Branch Library. They will be spending time reading, eating lunch, seeing a special play just for them, and receiving a free book courtesy of the "Sue Jorgansen Foundation". It is going to be an exciting day for all of us we will keep you posted. Clifford says, "See you there!"

Once again the Enchanted Entertainers take the stage and delight all who attend the show. With an original script, adapted by Christal DeVries from a book by Richard Kennedy, these players show just how versatile they are by playing mainly male characters. Hogbone, played by Christal DeVries, and his gang come to capture the town of Cowlick. They are thwarted by a single character Wally, played by Cassie Black, with the help of the townspeople. All's well that ends well in this fun story. Thank you ladies for another wonderful performance.

The Enchanted Entertainers are ready again. There third production will be on Wednesday March 12, 2008. Show times are 10:00 AM, 1:00 and 7:00 PM at the Riverton Branch Library.

Enchanted Entertainers do it again!

Yes, things all came together on December 12th and 13th as our wonderful Enchanted Entertainers gave eight excellent performances to a total of 811 people.

We had our local elementary schools plus some private ones join us for two fun days with our performers and Mr. and Mrs. Claus. After the show and a quick visit with Santa the children all frosted and decorated a cookie provided by the children's library staff.

We look forward to the library programs in 2008,

the children's staff has lots of ideas and it will be great.

The "Enchanted Entertainers" premiered their first play this week, Something new for Halloween and Who's afraid of the Big Bad Pumpkin, at the Riverton Branch Library. They had five shows, with an average of 60 people attending, and they were all very successful. Our eleven actor/moms did excellent jobs with stage design, costuming, and acting. They are a very professional group, and we hope to see more of them in the near future.

This fall of 2007 we started a girl's and boy's book club. We also started a girl's craft day. The girls groups started off great with l7 attending the book club and about 20 doing the craft. For the boys it is a little slower. The group will start on the 23rd of October with 6 members. They will be reading an A to Z Mystery. The girls have started their club on the 18th of September. We will be discussing the book The Hundred Dresses, by Eleanor Estes, when we meet on October 16th. The next book for the girls is The Castle in the Attic by Elizabeth Winthrop.
